Job Description

Roberts Companies has an immediate opening for a seasoned Warehouse Associate for a 6 month contact at a manufacturing facility in Martinez, California.  This position requires participation in a random drug testing program. Local candidates only.

Purpose of position:

The Warehouse Associate controls the maintenance store room and supports the procurement function.

The Warehouse Associate supports the maintenance organization by keeping stock parts at the desired level, maintaining an organized store room, issuing and ordering parts and monitoring / correcting invoice discrepancies.

   Job Duties:

•         Re-stock warehouse shelves and operating

•         Coordination of new parts set-up in SAP

•         Reduce / eliminate invoice inaccuracy

•         Issue parts for maintenance work orders (job kitting)

•         Monitor parts usage, submit list of parts to be removed from stock

•         Conduct a quarterly physical inventory and submit discrepancies

•         Create PO’s for service and materials

•         Assist in receiving multiple quotes (competitive bidding)

•         Keep track of rental equipment billing

•         Receive goods in GSAP, for parts received

•         Follow up on timely delivery of orders

•         Assist in the set-up of new vendors

•         Assist in the verification of accurate vendor payment

•         Assist in sourcing materials/vendors

•         Follow 5S system, (re)organizing spare parts storage. 

Responsibility and Authority:

•         The Warehouse Associate is responsible for duties listed above.

•         The warehouse Maintenance Associate realistically manages the maintenance store room and issues parts.

Place in the organization:

•         Reports to the Site Maintenance Manager (hierarchal)

•         Reports to Corporate Contractor & Procurement Manager (functional)

External and Internal Contacts:

•         Works closely with maintenance contractors/ vendors  and all plant personnel

Job Requirements


  • 4+ Years’ experience as a purchasing agent and store room associate in an industrial setting.  

  • Microsoft Excel and Word 

  • Excellent Communication and Organization skills 

  • Ability to develop a high level of trust 

  • Background knowledge of operating equipment and parts 

  • Background and understanding of the procurement process 

  • Conflict resolution skills 

  • Trained and well versed in time management

  • Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems SAP. PM module. 

  • Proficient in Computerized Procurement Process, SAP MM module. 

  • Ability to get qualified to operate a forklift.

Information system knowledge:

  • Computer proficiency

  • SAP proficiency

  • Microsoft Office

Working conditions:

  • Normal working schedule is daytime shift, 9-80 schedule is an option

  • Ability to travel as required for training or company business.

Physical demands:

The Warehouse Associate is expected to be able to access any part of the plant and meet all standard HSSE requirements.
